Cribbing is an essential requirement to create a sturdy, elevated, structure that is capable of supporting a heavy load. This technique involves stacking a group of specially designed, uniform, blocks under the load to ensure stability and safe access to the load.
Hydraulic devices are often used to lift heavy loads and equipment, such as in servicing, rescue, maintenance and construction applications. For optimal safety of personnel working with or near lifted objects, physical and static supports, such as cribbing, should also be used to maintain load support, as these hydraulic devices are used to lift the load into position.
Uniformity and durability are critical in the use of any type of cribbing material, which should be free from paint, stains or other finishes that reduce the stability of the load.
BOSS Cribbing Carries the Load in Quality and Performance
In the past, wooden blocks were often used to provide support to heavy loads, however, advances in substrate technology have led to the development of specially designed, high tensile plastic cribbing blocks that afford several advantages over traditional materials.
Many work sites have now recognised the superior safety characteristics of plastic cribbing and now banned the use of wooden cribbing.
BOSS is proud to partner with the globally recognised expert in plastic cribbing technology: Turtle Plastics, who specialise in leading-edge design and manufacture of cribbing products for all applications and are specifically renowned for use in the rescue and emergency services sector – where safety is paramount and lives depend on quality cribbing equipment.
Benefits of the BOSS Cribbing range:
- Uniform shape, size, weight & strength throughout the product
- Weight rating listed on each piece of equipment
- Colour coded for ease of identifying weight rating
- No natural weak points, knots, cracks, splits or splinters
- Lightweight and easy to manually handle or manoeuvre into position
- Zero water absorbency
- Free from paint or finishes
- Resistant to chemical corrosion
- 100% recyclable and made from 100% recycled material
The Durable BOSS – BOSS cribbing blocks are manufactured from 100% recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which is impervious to water and resistant to corrosion, using a repeatable plastic formulation and manufacturing processes, to ensure superior and consistent quality control.
The Quality BOSS – The BOSS cribbing range has been tested under the guidance of AS1170 to verify the uniformity and load carrying capacity of each product, as well as the quality of the design and manufacturing process.
The Tough BOSS – The heavy-duty load carrying capacity of each BOSS cribbing product is clearly printed on each individual component, with colour coded lanyards to assist in identifying load limits.
The Smart BOSS – BOSS cribbing is completely uniform and interlocking, to provide maximum stability for the load base.
The ‘D’ Series features an anti-slip ‘pyramid’ surface across all side facings, to afford superior traction and prevent movement.
The ‘G’ Series features a ‘Lincoln Log’ style interlocking mechanism for enhanced stability in stacked applications, with the alternating ‘pyramid’ design facia on each side providing two working surfaces in the one block.
The BOSS Guarantee – The BOSS cribbing range is backed by a comprehensive manufacturer’s warranty of up to 50 years, from Turtle Plastics.
Important Information From the BOSS
ONLY THE END USER CAN DETERMINE LOAD CAPACITY. ANY BENDING, DEFLECTION, SAGGING, BULGING OR DEFORMITY WILL NECESSITATE ADDITIONAL CRIBS.
Warning: Failure to observe the detailed Safety Precautions and instructions in the Turtle Plastics Technical Operations Manual may result in serious personal injury or death. Copies of the Technical Operating Manual can be obtained by visiting www.bosshydraulics.com.au. Alternately, you can request a copy via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 1300 BOSS HYD. As the use of BOSS cribbing products under individual conditions is beyond BOSS Hydraulics control, no warranty, expressed or implied, including but not limited to merchantability or fitness for a particular use, is made concerning the products. The Block Total Working Load Limit capacities mentioned herein are only possible if the full press load is evenly distributed across the top and bottom surfaces of the cribbing block. Never exceed the Working Load Limit of the cribbing block or cribs. Under no circumstances, do the Working Load Limits indicated herein, take into consideration point loading or uneven weight distribution of the supported load.
